Family Christmas

Merry Christmas, everyone! :)

Family fun anywhere

We were visiting my mom in San Gabriel, and took a break outside in someone's yard...Lucy and Tyler made it a blast. :)

Lollipop

"This thing is inCREDIBLE! EVERYone needs to taste it!"

"I'm going to Maui"

Occasionally, ever since our trip to Maui for a friend's wedding this past september, Lucy packs up and says, "I'm going to Maui."

Tyler living it up

Tyler's first In-N-Out...grilled cheese, his tech deck skateboard...what else can a 16-month old boy ask for?

wait...what exactly constitutes child labor?

hey, all i'm saying is, if she seems to enjoy the work, and we give her a lunch break, what's wrong with a little nod back to charles dickens' age of industrialism?

more ketchup?

This was Tyler's first taste of ketchup. I showed him how to dip his scrambled egg into it...and that's all it took. He ate two full eggs by himself that morning, and probably about two tablespoons of ketchup...not to mention the smile of delight that ketchup seems to bring to his face.

bigfoot?

Apparently Lucy is fantasizing about the future...either as a clown, or as the new albino bigfoot. By the end, I guess she decides that those shoes are too big to fill.

kisses

Our guys love giving kisses...here it's aunt Kathy that's the lucky recipient.

Ice Cream...I like it!

Lucy's clear: ice cream? I like it!

Adorable

Ok, I know I'm his dad...but this has to be one of the most adorable looks I've ever seen on a little boy's face. Not to mention his creativity with the accessorizing of stickers.

a new place to have fun

It's just amazing how much fun these two can make out of just about anything!

Scrumptous Sand

Lucy loves the sand: digging holes in it, playing with it...even eating it.

Spoon Skillz

I'm Tyler, and I got skills. So what if i have to be extremely focused to use them?

Tyler's Soccer Skills

I guess he might be a soccer player...:)

Contemplation with a little exploration

Don't think that a contemplative moment can't also involve a little finger exploration...of daddy's ear canal.

Teamwork

Not only are they friends...they're a team! :)

Shrine Pass and over 11,000 feet

Jenny and I took our little guys up shrine pass, above 11,000 feet (11,089) last month when we were in Colorado. We figure at this rate they'll do 14K by age 5, and hit the Himalaya in their early teens. If you look closely at the mountain range in the background, you'll see Mount of the Holy Cross, with it's cross shaped crevice filled with snow.

gender roles?

i swear, we don't try to shape them into certain gender roles. lucy just loves pushing her babies, while tyler prefers to "mow the lawn". though it does seem here that lucy's considering trying her hand at both...

our little cargo climber

always fearless, we sure love our lucy

our new gardener

we like him, but we keep asking him to bring his own drinking water.

Virtuosos?

Well, what we CAN say is they love banging on the piano keys...we'll see how long that lasts...

Pool Party Two

We had a great time spending a couple days in San Diego with the Rattay family. Josiah and Jaden were SO SWEET with their little friends!

like mother like daughter

Jenny is just a sucker for Coca-Cola. Could that be genetic? (Thanks to Eugene Lee for this picture, and the one below!)

fun times with daddy

Tyler and Lucy have fun and cuddle with daddy, respectively. Precious times.

tongue and tummy

I never thought about how "tongue" and "tummy" sound alike until now. Notice that with his new walking skills, Tyler is struggling with improvisation and multi-tasking, but that doesn't slow him down. Additionally, Lucy is continuing to strut her fancy hat.

lucy's special hat

Who are we to define the parameters of style? Lucy thinks it works...that's enough for us.

Teamwork

They loved their new toys from auntie heike on their first birthday. Lucy's apparently already enjoying male chivalry.

Trouble.

You never know what they're going to get into next. But I do appreciate Lucy's partiality toward Flannery O'Connor. :)

One Year Old

One year ago, they were born. Amazing. It's overwhelming and wonderful that they are little people. We can't wait to keep discovering more of who they are.

snack time

The new favorite time of the day: snack time. (any food that's processed that comes out of packaging is "NACK" to lucy, and that makes her very excited.)

smile of the day

For some reason, Tyler decided to smile like this EVERY time I pointed the camera at him on this day. He'd never done this smile before, he's never done it since. Bizarre. I guess he was trying a new look.

pool party

Lucy was instantly CRAZY about the pool...Tyler gathers a little more data before declaring his opinion.

mini me

jenny noticed that tyler and i seem to dress alike.

bubbles with mommy

little skaters already

Like father, like daughter and son, I guess. :)

The Yangs and Madeline

We visited Josh and Betty Yang, and their four-month-old daughter, Madeline, over the weekend, and had a great time!

Our happy son

Tyler's giant spoon

It's funny how they seem to love every toy that's NOT made for them...is that a reflection of human nature? We're just trying to help him choose the SPOONS, rather than the STEAK KNIVES.

Peek-a-Boo

Lucy's favorite new game.

Little Friends

Yesterday, they played here at the coffee table like this for an hour. It was the best part of my day!

al fuego

Lately, Lucy's vocal chords have been on fire. She has quite a lot to say...I wish we had an interpreter!

March Madness, Tyler Style

Go Bruins!

We love the outdoors!

If you didn't know it, there ARE woods and hiking in LA...you just have to know where to look. :) Tyler and Lucy LOVED it!

uh oh!

Lucy's favorite saying.

beautiful lucy

Lucy went to her first wedding on Saturday. Do all little girls love weddings?

Lucy's favorite ball

I don't know if this is any indication of her future, but Lucy's favorite toy by FAR is her Cal State Northridge basketball.

Quite a Do

Lucy made me think of Crusty the Clown this morning.

Daddy loves him his babies

Those eyes can really smile

The Clapper

Lucy's new thing is clapping. Her auntie Tracey Gee taught her how a week ago...we think she's progressing well. :)

Lucy waving her little flag

Tyler Crawling...and getting a little surprise

Notice the look on Tyler's face when he gets a surprising mouthful of camera.

Play-Pals

It's so much fun to see them really beginning to play and have fun with each other!

Buddies, part 2

Here is the video version...each decided to weigh in with their favorite vocalizations. Are they talking to each other? They really might be...

Buddies

Tyler and Lucy reunited after 90 minutes apart in Dreamland...they were pretty excited to connect. :)
