Well, we're coming up on the two-week mark, and seem to have somehow survived.

Jenny had her OB follow-up visit and passed her exam with flying colors. Dr. Dwight gave her the green light to do anything she can, including swim! That has yet to happen.

Today we paid a visit to an incredible woman, Corky Harvey--founder and president of The Pump Center, a breastfeeding store--and with a little bit of guidance, both babies were nursing simultaneously, and successfully. It's really wonderful to have mentors--even if you have to pay for them--in the whole area of breastfeeding. I can't help feeling like the women of my parents' generation weren't very well helped to understand this ancient human art. It's a lot trickier than it looks!

We were also encouraged that--contrary to how things had appeared--in the past 8 days Lucy's gained 9 ounces, and Tyler 12 ounces! We have another follow-up visit to Dr. Nakashima--our children's pediatrician--on Friday.

Lastly, we had our first lunch out as a family! Driving back from The Pump Station, we were hungry & figured we'd go for it. We ate in Westwood, at Falaffel King, and maybe it's because I've been cooped up for two weeks, but it tasted incredible! I'm not sure what Lucy and Tyler think of fallafel, but we'll make sure to take them back there in a few years. Every time we leave the house, it feels like an adventure, but it's been great to not be intimidated by the new challenges, but to meet them head on!

tyler loves to sleep like this

he's a really scrappy little gremlin! he will challenge even the best of swaddlers...just give him a couple of hours.

family time!

hmm...this milk tastes salty

lucy gets a little too hungry. tyler's a good sport, though.

lucy sophia hall

lucy sophia means light and wisdom. we think lucy is a really fun name, and she is already a light to our lives. there's also a peaceful strength about her that we already feel.

tyler benson hall

tyler's name means (to us, and partially-technically): loyal, brave, and adventurous son of the kingdom. "tyler" refers to the protagonist of a story my dad made up about a lake in the high sierras, and whose life reflected the first three qualities. "benson" is hebrew and means "son of zion".

a kiss for my girl...

cuddling like before

When Jenny and I went into our bedroom after dinner, this is what we found. This is almost the exact position their heads were in--relative to each other--in Jenny's womb. Apparently, they're going to get cuter every day...

we're here! :)

Introducing Tyler Benson, on the left, 5 pounds, 9 ounces and 18 1/2 inches...younger brother to Lucy Sophia, on the right, 6 pounds, 3 ounces and 18 3/4 inches. Both are home today (Monday, May 14th) and enjoying South Central LA from their crib. They say, don't believe the hype...it seems like a great neighborhood. On a side note, apparently in this family, the women are always taller than the men!

We're excited, feel honored by God, and are tired! We would love your prayers as we move forward in the marathon which is raising newborn twins! Thanks for stopping by!

on the eve of parenthood...

Well, by this time tomorrow--if things go according to plan--I, Scott, will be the father of two children. Jenny and I spent the evening at C & O's Trattoria in Marina Del Rey, and took a sunset walk on the beach as our last evening out for awhile.

As I anticipate the day--and the rest of our lives--I feel gratitude for being entrusted with two children to raise, and I feel a strange stillness inside. As crazy as I can only guess the next several months are going to be, I feel a peace that God has chosen me and Jenny to parent these two little people, and that he will give us all we need to parent them well.

Our prayer, as we enter into parenthood is: "Father, give us eyes to see your presence, your beauty, and your magic in the world, that we may open the eyes of our children to their heavenly father."
